In a thrilling clash against rival Louisiana Tech, the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns showcased a revamped defense led by USC transfer Elijah Newby. The Cajuns dominated the Bulldogs, securing a decisive 42-10 victory.

Newby, who made an immediate impact with four tackles, expressed his excitement about playing alongside talented freshmen linebackers Nick Bourgeois and Greg Hoppes. "Honestly, I'm stoked to play with Nick and Hoppes. These guys are legit! They bring so much energy and skill, it's gonna be a wild ride this season," Newby said, exuding confidence in his young teammates.

Defensive coordinator Daryl Dixon echoed Newby’s sentiments, highlighting the potential of Bourgeois and Hoppes. "Nick and Greg are both 4-star talents and they bring a level of athleticism and football IQ that we really need. The future is bright with these two in the mix," Dixon remarked after the game.

Bourgeois, who recorded his first career sack in the matchup, couldn’t contain his excitement. "Getting that sack felt unreal, man! Winning against Tech makes it even better. It’s just the beginning for us," he shared, beaming with pride.

With Newby’s leadership and the raw talent of freshmen like Bourgeois and Hoppes, the Cajuns are poised for a strong season ahead. As they continue to gel on the field, fans can expect to see more fireworks from this electrifying defense.
