In a remarkable turnaround, the Jacksonville State Gamecocks secured their eighth consecutive win of the season, dominating Florida International 48-28. After a disheartening start at 0-3, this streak has solidified Jacksonville State's position as a formidable contender in Conference USA, now boasting an impressive 8-3 overall record and 6-1 in conference play.

The Gamecocks showcased a balanced offensive attack, with freshman quarterback Jameson Scissum throwing for 182 yards and three touchdowns, while Caleb Coombs emerged as a standout receiver, racking up 202 yards on 12 receptions. The defense also played a pivotal role, forcing turnovers and maintaining pressure on the FIU offense throughout the game.

Head coach Justin Wright reflected on the team's journey, drawing on the resilience they've shown after a rocky start. "Man, we been through the fire, ya know? Ain't nobody thought we could do it after that 0-3 start, but we just kept grindin'. These boys got heart, and they ain't never gave up. We workin’ hard, and it’s payin’ off," he said.

As the Gamecocks look ahead, they aim to extend their winning streak and secure a higher seed for the upcoming conference championship. The sense of unity and determination within the team is palpable, fueling their ambition to keep this momentum rolling. With each game, they’re proving that the early season struggles were just a stepping stone on their path to success.
