In a dominant display, the Georgia Southern Eagles (7-2, 4-1) crushed rival Appalachian State 69-7, showcasing their offensive prowess and defensive strength. This victory not only solidifies their position in the Sun Belt standings but also raises an important question: when will the national media start giving this team the respect it deserves?
Georgia Southern's performance on Saturday was nothing short of spectacular. With a balanced attack led by quarterback JC French, who threw for 240 yards and two touchdowns, and running back OJ Arnold, who rushed for 106 yards, the Eagles put on a show that left no doubt about their capabilities. The team's 400 total yards of offense and a shut-down defense that limited Appalachian State to just 78 yards further highlighted their dominance.
Head coach Rodney Saulsberry remains focused on the bigger picture. “We’ve been overlooked for too long,” he stated after the game. “This win is a statement, but we’re using the disrespect as motivation. Every time we step on the field, we’re out to prove that Georgia Southern is a force to be reckoned with.”
Despite their impressive record and recent performances, national rankings and media coverage have largely ignored the Eagles. As they continue to gain momentum, one can only hope that the national spotlight will finally turn its gaze on this talented team.
With a schedule that still includes key matchups, Georgia Southern has the opportunity to further establish itself as a contender. Acknowledgment from national media may be overdue, but the Eagles are more than capable of earning that respect on the field. As Coach Saulsberry says, the Eagles are ready to soar—even if the world isn’t watching just yet.
