Miami, FL — In a thrilling display of resilience and skill, the Florida International Panthers (FIU) bounced back from a tough road loss against Penn State by overpowering their rivals, Florida Atlantic University (FAU), with a commanding 38-22 victory. The win improves FIU’s record to 2-1, and the Panthers showcased their offensive prowess, led by standout performances from quarterback Keyone Jenkins and wide receiver Alex Perry.
Jenkins, who threw for an impressive 443 yards and four touchdowns, connected frequently with Perry, who racked up an astounding 205 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Perry’s explosive play was a key factor in FIU’s success, as he consistently found ways to get open and stretch the field.
"Alex has been a game-changer for us," said FIU head coach "Sweet" James Jones. "He’s got that speed and agility that can take the top off any defense. Today, he showed why he’s one of the best in the game."
The Panthers wasted no time establishing their dominance, scoring 21 unanswered points in the second quarter to take a commanding lead. Despite a late surge from FAU, the Panthers maintained their composure and executed their game plan effectively.
Jones reflected on the team's bounce-back from the previous week’s loss, saying, "We learned a lot from that game. The guys came back with a chip on their shoulder and wanted to prove what they’re capable of. I’m proud of how they responded."
As the rivalry continues to unfold, FIU's strong performance sets a promising tone for the remainder of the season. With their offense clicking and the defense stepping up when needed, the Panthers look poised to make a statement in the coming weeks.
